The Grand Théâtre de Genève is the largest cultural institution in French-speaking Switzerland and one of the principal opera stages in Europe. As Geneva’s opera and ballet theatre, it presents important works of the classical repertoire, as well as new pieces by contemporary artists, designed for the enjoyment of a wide audience. Beginning in the 2019/2020 season, the general manager of the Grand Théâtre will be Aviel Cahn. With over 300 staff members active in artistic, technical and administrative professions, the Grand Théâtre de Genève also features an opera chorus, a ballet company and enjoys a close performance relationship with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.

Your mission and your duties:

This position is part of our young artists’ professional development policy and therefore only concerns persons under 35 years of age. Your duties will include providing assistance to the stage director and performers, during the initial phases of production preparation, as well as during rehearsals and performances. You will be contributing to the development of the production and its successful operation. You will be in charge of transmitting information and maintaining communication between the different teams involved in the production.

Your profile:

You are a young professional of the stage, with relevant training and significant experience as a director’s assistant in the field of opera. You know how an opera is performed and are also familiar with the main works of the repertoire. You are proactive and flexible and have a keen sense of responsibilities and organization. You have proficient computer skills. You are fluent in written and spoken French and English, as well as another useful language in the field.
