Concert des lauréats du Concours de Genève

Concert on music by Wolfgang Amadeus MozartCarl Philipp Emanuel Bach

In collaboration with the Concours de Genève

Duration: approx. 1:40 (with one intermission)

Mozart’s concert arias are a genre in themselves within the composer’s immense repertoire. Written for particular performers (often female singers Mozart was enamoured with), they are at the same time extremely beautiful and peerlessly difficult. They are little masterpieces of expressiveness and truly dramatic scenes which form an immense corpus and are often absent from our concerts. Similarly, the flute concertos by Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach – wonders of virtuosity and imagination that mark the transition from baroque era to clas- sicism – are too rarely programmed. This concert is organised by the Concours de Genève as part of its Laureates Festival, which will be held from 23 November to 3 December 2017. Three of the singers have won the Grand Théâtre de Genève’s Prix Spécial du Cercle and the concert therefore pays tribute to this privileged partner.
