The tale begins with five minutes of swelling, flowing, rushing, swirling music that makes you immediately understand that what will follow is no ordinary opera. The story of the theft of the Rhine gold is the introduction to Richard Wagner's magnum opus: a series of four operas known as The Ring of the Nibelung. A great name of German theatre, Dieter Dorn, directs these legendary works in a final flourish to his distinguished career, with the help of another sage of the stage, set designer Jürgen Rose. To their age and experience, Georg Fritzsch adds the passion and talent proving once again the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande's status as one of Europe's best Wagnerian ensembles.
