Sara Baras - Sombras

Flamenco ballet by Sara Baras
Premiered in Pamplona on 18 October 2017, at the Baluarte Auditorium.

Sara Baras and her company have set alight the stage of the Opéra des Nations with their show, Voces. For 90 minutes, she, and the artists accompanying her, overwhelmed and enthused a huge audience, who experienced what true passion really is. The ovations after each show thrilled Sara Baras and her company, who were performing in Geneva for the first time. Without hesitation, she accepted a new invitation to present us her latest work: Sombras (Shadows). The show was created to mark the 20th anniversary of the "Sara Baras Flamenco Ballet Company". The show’s leitmotif is the Farruca, a dance that has accompanied the artist – originally from Cadiz – throughout her career for 20 years and which has brought her great success. Under its shadow, she has progressively and continually evolved towards the heights she has attained today. Here, virtuosity combines with dramatic choreography, both traditional and modern, against a musical backcloth derived from its flamenco roots, but also reflecting rhythms from other cultures. This is another chance to get to know the Farruca, this highly technical Andalusian dance, of Galician origin. Another date not to be missed!
